The Fundamentals of a Sports Vision Practice:

Join Dr. Graham Erickson and Dr. Fred Edmunds for a 2 ½ day comprehensive workshop that will prepare you with the knowledge, strategies and techniques required to integrate this exciting and rewarding sub-specialty into your optometric practice. With over 60 years’ combined experience, Drs. Erickson and Edmunds, recognized leaders in the field, will share their knowledge and expertise to help you confidently provide sports vision services in your practice. Instruction will include both didactic and practical hands-on training.

Conducting a comprehensive visual performance evaluation
Sport relevant analysis of results
Development of customized visual performance optimization plans
Interactive classroom learning, and experiential on-field training utilizing local athletes

BIOS

Graham Erickson, O.D., FAAO, FCOVD

Dr. Graham Erickson is a professor at Pacific University College of Optometry. He currently teaches the Vision Therapy, Strabismus/Amblyopia and Sports Vision courses, and is the coordinator of the Pediatric Optometry and Vision Therapy/Rehabilitation residency at Pacific University. Dr. Erickson is a Diplomate in Binocular Vision, Perception and Pediatric Optometry in the American Academy of Optometry and a Fellow of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development. He has worked with collegiate, Olympic and professional sports athletes and teams for more than 30 years. Dr. Erickson has authored the text Sports Vision: Vision Care for the Enhancement of Sports Performance, as well as co-authoring the text Optometric Management of Reading Dysfunction, and published chapters and articles in various professional journals. He lectures internationally on the topics of sports vision, pediatrics, and binocular vision.

Frederick R. Edmunds, O.D., FAAO

Dr. Edmunds established and runs a sports vision only practice, the XTREMESIGHT Performance Clinic, devoted to visual performance enhancement of athletes. In addition to his work with professional and collegiate teams, he provides custom programs for elite level youth and high school athletes. He also offers sports vision practice management services to his fellow eye care professionals. Previously, he worked for Bausch & Lomb and was awarded ‘Sports Vision Optometrist of the Year” for his efforts to promote sports vision worldwide through the Olympic Vision Center. Additionally, he was involved in the development of a novel sport-tinted contact lens, NIKE MAXSIGHT, designed to enhance the visual performance of athletes. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, on the Board of Directors of the International Sports Vision Association and a member of the AOA Sports & Performance Vision Committee. He lectures internationally and has published numerous articles on sports vision and contact lenses. Dr. Edmunds is an extreme sports athlete, actively racing motocross and mountain bikes.
